On the first day of my trip to Spain in February 2025, I arrived in Bilbao via Madrid. On the way to Madrid, I was impressed by the delicious dinner and excellent service provided by Finnair operated by Iberia. Madrid airport looked more beautiful than I remembered. I particularly liked the design of the ceiling. The Iberia lounge was very nice, with a variety of tasty food, though I couldn’t eat much after having dinner on the flight.
2025年2月末に訪れたスペイン。初日はヘルシンキからマドリード経由でビルバオへ。マドリードまでの飛行機の中で食べたディナーがおいしくて感動。Finnair便ですが、機体も乗務員もすべてイベリア航空が担当。共同運航便ではなくFinnair operated by Iberiaという便でした。マドリード空港には以前何度か降り立ったことがあるのですが、記憶よりもっと素敵な感じでした。特に天井のデザインが印象的。イベリア航空のラウンジも広くて、食べ物の種類が豊富。飛行機の中でディナーを食べてまだお腹いっぱいだったので、目移りするほどいろんな食べ物があったのに食べられなくてちょっと残念な気持ちになったり。
The connecting flight to Bilbao was full, but it was such a short flight that it didn’t bother me. Departure was delayed, but we still arrived at Bilbao Airport on time, at 23:15. Bilbao Airport was small, so getting out of the terminal was super quick. I was aiming to take the 23:40 bus, and I made it easily.
マドリードからビルバオまでの乗り継ぎ便は満席だったのですが、短いフライトなのでそれほど不快にも思わず。離陸が遅れたものの予定到着時間ぴったりの23時15分にビルバオ空港に到着。ビルバオ空港はとても小さいので、あっという間に空港の外に出ることができ、予定していた22時40分発のバスに乗ってビルバオの街に向かいました。
I had informed the hotel that I would be arriving around midnight, and I arrived almost exactly at that time. My key was already prepared, and it took only a couple of minutes to check in and get my key. It was great that the check-in process was smooth and quick!
ホテルには到着が真夜中（0：00頃）になると伝えてあったのですが、まさにその時間に到着。ホテルのレセプションではすでに私の部屋の鍵が用意されていて、チェックインは数分でスムーズに終了。こういう対応は最高です。
The room was clean, spacious, simply yet nicely decorated, and had good amenities. 広いお部屋はシンプルで感じのよい内装。アメニティも充実。
I liked having a complimentary bottle of water, coffee (including decaf), and a good selection of teas. I always appreciate decaf coffee. After a full day of activities, I often feel like having coffee, and decaf doesn’t disturb a good night’s sleep! As far as I know, decaf is available everywhere.
無料のお水、コーヒー（デカフェも！）、4種類のティー。夜飲んでも睡眠に影響しないデカフェはなんともありがたいもの。
The tea selection included English tea, green tea (“kukicha”), chamomile tea, and peppermint tea.
充実したティーセレクションは、茎茶、紅茶、カモミールティー、ミントティー。茎茶のティーバッグ、初めて見ました。
The bathroom was also specious with two sinks. バスルームも広くてシンクは2つ。
I think it was my first time finding a toothbrush as an amenity in the room in Europe. It’s common in Japan but not in Europe, I believe. 日本では当たり前の歯ブラシですが、ヨーロッパのホテルで見たのは初めて。
After settling into the room quickly, I went to bed and slept well in the comfortable bed. お部屋に入ってから、素早く眠支度を調えて 満足度の高いお部屋の快適なベッドで眠りにつきました、
