We had snow, quite a lot of snow in Helsinki. We have a word “sakura-fubuki” in Japanese. It is “sakura blizzard” and means that sakura petals are brown by the wind and it looks like blizzard. But we had snow blizzard when sakura was in full bloom. I felt wabi-sabi, kind of beauty, in the scenery.

I used to live near Johanneksenkirkko but didn’t know there was sakura next to the church. It’s lovely combination, a nice church and sakura. Inside of the church is amazing, especially on a sunny day. Light coming through the stained glass is beautiful.

As to church, there is another location where we can see sakura and church combination. It’s also the place near my old apartment but I didn’t know about the sakura. It’s next to Arkkienkeli Mikaelin kirkko and in the Tehtaanpuisto. I like to walk the green area around the church to visit Eira and Kaivopuisto area. Most of the time I walk there, sky is totally blue somehow or I might choose to go there only on a sunny day.

I continued walking to the seaside and enjoyed the full bloom of sakura and colorful tulips at Meripuisto.

I had never noticed sakura in the Kamppi shopping center area. There are couple of sakura trees now. They are small trees and I am looking forward to the day I could see bigger trees with more flowers!
Now my sakura walk story has come to the end! I walked and saw a lot of sakura in Helsinki this year. And I am already looking forward to next spring with ambition to discover more sakura spots!
